Bahrain Duty Free’s website wins e-Economy Award

Shopping Complex won the E-Economy Award for the private business sector, during the launch of the Bahrain International e-Government Excellence Award 2010 Programme earlier. The Award was received by the Chairman Farouk Al Moayyed at the awards ceremony held on Sunday, May 16, 2010, at Isa Cultural Centre, under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information Communication Technology.

The Bahrain Duty Free’s website won the e-Economy Excellence Award in recognition of its outstanding performance in promoting excellence and creativity in the field of e-service amongst the public sector organizations in the Kingdom of Bahrain, through its implementation of the innovated, first of its kind in the Middle East, concept of “buy online”, thus significantly contributing towards improvement of quality of life for citizens. The e-Government award is given to Public or Private

Organizations that use information and communications technologies in an innovative approach to develop the economic sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This award praises organizations with a robust ICTinfrastructure and competent staff that have unique approaches that contribute to the growth of Bahrain’s economy.

A first of its kind in the Middle East, the Company’s website offers the innovative “shopping online” facility to its customers travelling through the Bahrain international Airport.
