Batelco Dreams eased past Bani Jamra 4-2 in Group ‘C’of the seventh annual Shura and  parliament Councils Football Championship, being held at Batelco Staff Centre grounds in Al Hamala. Former Muharraq and national team striker Mohammed Jaffer Al Zain fired the winners ahead three minutes into the first half,  but Bani Jamra equalized thanks to Fadhl Abdulla’s strike just before the interval. Batelco Dreams, guided by exnational team goalkeeper Ali Hassan, regained their momentum in the secondhalf and took the lead through Al Malkiya Club’s veteran Sayed Amin in the 60th minute. Bani Jamra then pounced on a 73rd minute penalty kick by Mahdi Hassan, but Batelco Dreams were also given a penalty from which Ali Hussain made it 3-2 four minutes later.

The match became a neck-and-neck affair with both teams making serious inroads towards the closing stage. But it was left to Ahmed Ali who fired Batelco Dreams’winner in injury time for their maiden victory in the competition. In Group ‘B’, Ahmed Sharif Furniture posted a deserving 5-3 victory over Salmabad to remain undefeated after two matches. Also featuring some of Bahrain’s top soccer players, Ahmed Sharif dominated

the early proceedings and took the lead in the eighth minute through Mohammed Abdulwahab who made it 2-0 for the victors on 22 minutes. Sami Mohammed virtually secured the full three points after scoring five minutes later. But Salmabad continued to play and they had some hope eight minutes after the break when Hussain Hassan finally smashed the ball past Ahmed Sharif and Busaiteen Club’s senior goalkeeper Sayed Shubbar Alawi. Mohammed Abdulla then reduced Salmabad’s deficit to just one goal,

beating Alawi with a well-placed shot in the 57th minute to revive his team’s chances.

However, Ahmed Sharif soon had some momentum and managed to regain their two-goal lead in the 61st minute, thanks to Busaiteen Club and national team midfielder Abdulwahab Ali who added the fifth goal five minutes later.

Abdulla then fired his second goal in the game and the third for Salmabad in the 85th  minute but Ahmed Sharif survived the battle to clinch the full three points.

Meanwhile, two matches will be played today when Abu Quwa take on Saar Youth Centre in Group ‘D’at 5.30pm, then Isa Town play Al Ma’ameer in Group ‘A’at 7.30pm. All matches take place at Batelco Staff Centre grounds.
