How to Quickly Recover Data from Crash Window.

Last night I turned my Laptop on to finalize the project for one of my client, after a minute I seen the error screen “Windows could not start because a system file was missing or corrupted” it was a registery files problem even I was unable to start my laptop on safe mode to recover my data and the backup of my computer I have a backup that was too old and some of important files & documents were missing.

As you know the problem is much critical & there is chance to crashed my all data which is not backup by me. I started search on internet or some famous forums, however, I got the solution in a forum suggested Knoppix in that situation. Knoppix is a linux bootable CD which runs directly form CD-Rom.

I downloaded (knoppix) by using another computer and burnt that into CD to load on my laptop. It works as a champ. With in 10 minutes copied all my necessary files & also I was able to edit registry to fix problem, after that the computer start working properly, even in safe mode and without my configuration.

Luckily I used my desktop computer which I used while my laptop was in that situation. If you work on one computer or you have only 1 computer. I suggest you to make knoppix CD for such emergencies. The 700 MB files downloading take time depending on your internet connection speed but its really worth.

This saves my worthy data and time so I felt to share it with you. This incident also forced me to transist from Windows to Linux. I am going to try Ubuntu first on my laptop. Lets see how it will goes….
